Lab Engineer organic renders and paints

The plant of Cantillana in Essen is specialized in the production of organic renders and paints. To strengthen our laboratory team, we are looking for a lab engineer.

Job Description:

• Carrying out R&D projects related production continuity, product improvement, cost reduction, new product development, competitor studies and sustainability
• Collecting samples of raw materials and finished products
• Perform various tests and analyses on the samples using specialized equipment and techniques
• Preparation of color samples for customers
• Ensure that products meet the established quality standards and specifications.
• Monitor and enforce adherence to quality control processes and procedures.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
• Record and analyze test results, and document findings accurately.
• Identify and report any deviations from the quality standards.
• Support the QC manager in preparation of and during external quality audits
• In direct contact with the production manager to discuss QC and R&D related topics including the implementation of formulation or raw material changes
• Provide technical support for customers, sales managers and product managers
• Actively following up the status and changes of legislations, standards and certifications
• Reports to the R&D Manager of Holcim SOP Belgium.

Job Qualifications:

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic person with the following competences:

• Master of Science in Chemistry, lack/paint engineer or comparable professional background
• Ideally a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a quality or research position in the paint or organic render industry
• Affinity with the construction sector is a plus
• strong self-motivation and the ability to work independently, taking initiative and ownership of tasks
• Knowledge of German and English (verbal and written)
• You show a sense of responsibility and have a hands-on mentality
• You have good organizational skills
• You are motivated to continuously expand your knowledge and are aware of new trends and technologies within the construction sector
