Purpose of the position

As an IT Business Solution Manager you will be leading a team of  IT business partners active in the Shared Services division of the company, including the departments Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Procurement, Facilities and Communication. In this role you will be part of the IT Management team and report directly to the Head of IT, and be part of the senior management community of Brussels Airlines.

Your role is to lead, plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the design, development, and implementation of different organizational information systems and software applications. You are accountable for maintaining, supporting, and upgrading existing business systems and applications. You are responsible for overseeing the IT operations and services that support the business objectives and needs of the Shared Services division.

You will manage a portfolio including large scale projects with an IT stake that affect multiple functions within the organization and that interface with different business partners. You ensure these projects have a proper impact, create business value and contribute to the IT strategy. You coordinate teams to plan, approve and rollout projects, within Brussels Airlines or as driven by Lufthansa Group.

You will manage a broad range of IT suppliers to ensure that services meet business needs.  You create business partnerships with these suppliers and help ensure proper contracts and pricing are in place.

You will manage a small team of IT Delivery Managers, and ensure that they deliver high-quality and timely solutions to the business users.

Tasks

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the IT activities and resources that support the business functions and processes.
  • Ensure the security, availability, reliability and scalability of the running IT solutions and applications within the division.
  • Manage a team of IT Delivery Managers and Project Managers, including hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluating their capacity and workload, performance and development.
  • Analyse, design, and implement IT solutions that meet the business needs and align with the IT strategy and standards, and aligned with Lufthansa Group roadmap.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and collaboration with the business users, managers, and executives, and understand their IT needs and expectations. In that regard, you will be permanent member of the divisional committee, representing IT.
  • Manage the IT application suppliers and related contracts/SLA’s, and negotiate the best terms and prices for the IT services and products together with the IT Contract Manager and the Procurement department.
  • Monitor and report on the IT project portfolio status, progress and changes, risks and issues, and support the IT stream of projects to ensure that they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Manage the IT budget for your division (both running services/solutions and investment projects), and monitor the status on actual and forecasted costs versus the budget.
  • Provide support in developing and keeping the IT policies, procedures, and documentation up-to-date, and monitor the compliance with the relevant laws and regulations.
  • Participate in Audits (Financial, IT Security, etc, …) and make sure that systems are compliant with regulatory requirements (GDPR, PCI, etc.)
  • Keep abreast of the latest IT trends and technologies, and identify and evaluate the opportunities for improvement and innovation, in dialogue with the respective business departments.

Your profile

  • A Masters's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in IT management, preferably in a business support role.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in IT systems and applications. Knowledge about system architecture of airline operational processes and solutions is an asset.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to motivate and inspire the IT team and the business users.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, and the ability to manage multiple and complex tasks in parallel.
  • Good knowledge of budgeting, cost management, and financial planning to ensure that service delivery stays within budget and aligns with the financial goals.
  • Have a mindset of continuous improvement. Pro-actively identify areas for improvement, implement process enhancements, and drive efficiency in service delivery.
  • Proficient in project management methodologies and tools, such as Agile, Scrum, and MS Project is an asset.
  • Certifications in ITIL, PMP, or other relevant IT domains are preferred.
  • Finance and or Human Resources background is a plus.
  • Knowledge about SAP ERP, SAP Successfactors.
  • Fluent in English, Dutch & French (both spoken & written).
